David Lawrence is one of the UK’s most versatile conductors.  He has been shortlisted for a Gramophone Award, and holds the Guinness World Record for conducting the UK’s largest choir.  His work has taken him to Dubai, Singapore, Colombia, Canada, the United States, India, throughout Europe, and to Australia.

As a guest chorusmaster for the Netherlands Radio Choir he has worked with Stockhausen, John Adams, Kenneth Montgomery, and Frans Brüggen.  He conducted a performance of Spem in alium for ‘The People’s Chorus’ for BBC TV.

David is passionate about working with young singers, and conducted the CBSO’s youth choir. He is Principal Conductor for Young Voices, directing massed school choirs in an annual series of 20 concerts.  In the UK and Australia he visits schools, music services, and festivals leading singing days and projects.

He has conducted the London Philharmonic, Hallé, and CBSO choirs and national youth choirs of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.  He is Community Choir Director to the London Symphony Orchestra. He works with Sinfonia Viva as Choral Advisor, project leader, and conductor, and has directed education projects with the Orchestra of WNO, ESO, RLPO, and CBSO.  David adjudicates at festivals, for the BBC Choir and Young Musician of the Year competitions, and conducts for BBC Television’s ‘Songs of Praise’.
