Dr. Anthony Young is Head of Classroom and Choral Music activities at St. Laurence’s College in South Brisbane, which has a strong male community singing tradition, supported by 6 choirs involving 180 singers aged from 10 to 17. He recently completed a research doctorate in Music Education and also holds Masters in Music Studies (choral conducting), an Australian Kodaly Certificate, an Arts degree in literature, and a Law degree. A recipient of the Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Teaching award, he serves on the State moderation panel for Music and served on the Queensland music syllabus writing team. He is the director of music at St. Ignatius church Toowong, a member of the Archdiocesan Commission of Liturgy and serves on the National Liturgical Music Board for the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. This year he received a Spirit of Catholic Education award from the Queensland Catholic Education Commission.  He is in demand as a choral conductor in school, community, festival and liturgical settings. His research has been published in journals such as the Australian Kodaly Journal and the International Kodaly Journal. His work has also been published by ACER,  Springer publications and Oxford University Press.
