I recently presented a workshop at an education conference held in Vancouver, Canada. This was a fantastic opportunity for me to share my view with fellow educational advocates on a subject that I’m especially passionate about; travel – an important pillar to fostering global citizenship.

I’m an avid believer that experiential learning through travel matters; encouraging global awareness and internationalising a student. That, through equipping students with knowledge of other countries and their cultures, it gives them a strong sense of global interconnectedness.

Many of our ASPIRE International Youth Music Festival participants, whom we’re working closely with to establish tailor-made travel packages for the 2017 ASPIRE event, will travel from varying countries and towns from throughout Australasia and from across the globe. When booking these tours and accepting applications, our ASPIRE vision remains top of mind.

“A world renowned youth music festival, fostering a culture of musical excellence and international connectedness, raising the aspirations of all students who take part.”

Our festival is open to students throughout the world, recognising that there are no borders when it comes to music. Our world-renowned adjudicators bring experience gained in countries from across the globe; learnt from exploring various cultures, instruments and international music and studying in destinations from all over the world.

Ensembles bring about a strong sense of belonging. International competition gives these communities the opportunity to share in the joy of music and competition. They come together with one desire, to create music and improve.
